NOTE: OPEN means double-click your left mouse button.
CLICK means click your left mouse button once.

1. Checking to see if you have Dial-up Networking installed:

   OPEN the "My Computer" icon on your Windows 95 screen.
   If a folder named "Dial-Up Networking" exists, then Dial-Up Networking is installed. If Dial-Up Networking is installed proceed to step 3.

2. Installing Dial-up Networking:

   OPEN the "My Computer" icon.
   OPEN the folder "Control Panel".
   OPEN the file "Add/Remove Programs".
   CLICK the tab "Windows Setup".
   CLICK on the item "Communications".
   CLICK on the button "Details".
   CLICK on the box to the left of "Dial-Up Networking".
   CLICK on the button "OK".
   CLICK on the button "O

   At this point, Windows 95 will install Dial-Up Networking. You may be asked to insert one of your Windows 95 floppy disks, or the Windows 95 CD. If so, insert the disks or CD until Windows 95 has completed installing Dial-Up Networking.

   When Dial-Up Networking has been installed, you will be asked to restart your computer.
   RESTART your computer.

3. Configuring the Networking control panel:

   OPEN the folder "My Computer".
   OPEN the folder "Control Panel".
   OPEN the file "Network".

   In the list labelled "The following network components are installed" check to see if Dial-Up Adapter and TCP/IP are present. If both are present, skip to (3c.) Configuring...

4. Installing Dial-Up Adapter (if Dial-Up Adapter is not already present):

   CLICK on the button "Add".
   CLICK on the item "Adapter".
   CLICK on the button "Add".
   From the scrolling list on the left, CLICK on the item "Microsoft".
   DialUp Adapter will be highlighted in the list on the right.
   CLICK on the button "OK".

5. Installing TCP/IP (if TCP/IP is not already present):

   CLICK on the button "Add".
   CLICK on the item "Protocol".
   CLICK on the button "Add".
   From the list on the left, CLICK on the item "Microsoft".
   From the list on the right, CLICK on the item "TCP/IP".
   CLICK on the button "OK".

6. Configuring Dial-Up Adapter and TCP/IP:

   CLICK on the Item "Dial-Up Adapter".
   CLICK on the button "Properties".
   CLICK on the Tab "Bindings".
   There should be a check-mark in the box next to the item "TCP/IP", if not, CLICK on the box to the left of the item "TCP/IP" to add a check-mark.
   (Some setups will see "TCP/IP-->Dialup Adapter" here)
   UNCHECK any other items by clicking the box to the left of that item.
   CLICK on the button "OK".

   CLICK on the item "TCP/IP".
   CLICK on the button "Properties".
   CLICK on the Tab "IP Address".
   SELECT the item "Obtain an IP Address automatically".
   CLICK on the tab "WINS Configuration".
   SELECT the item "Use DHCP for WINS resolution".
   CLICK on the tab "DNS Configuration".
   SELECT the item "Disable DNS".
   CLICK on the button "OK"
   (If you are using a low-resolution screen mode such as 640x480, the "OK" button may be just below the screen or the Windows 95 Task bar. To see the "OK" button, move the title bar of the TCP/IP Properties window just above the top of the screen.)

   In the window "Network", CLICK the tab "Identification"
   (skip this step if you do not have this tab)
   TYPE something in the field "Computer name"
   (anything, as long as there is something in the field.)
   TYPE something in the field "Workgroup"
   (anything, as long as there is something in the field.)
   The field "Computer Description" may be left blank.
   CLICK the button "OK".

At this point, if you added either Dial-Up Adapter or TCP/IP, Windows 95 will need to install those components. If you are asked to insert your Windows 95 CD or floppy disks, just follow Windows 95's instructions until it has finished installing Dial-Up Adapter and/or TCP/IP. Once Windows 95 has finished installing, you will be asked to reboot your computer.

Select Reboot.

7. Creating a Dial-Up Networking connection to InfiNet:

OPEN the "My Computer" icon.
OPEN the folder "Dial-Up Networking".
If you have used Dial-Up Networking before, OPEN the file "Make New Connection".
TYPE "InfiNet" in the field that says "Type a name for the computer you are dialing".
SELECT your modem.
CLICK the button "Next"
TYPE the area code and telephone number of the nearest InfiNet local access location.
CLICK the button "Next"
CLICK the button "Finish"

8. Configuring your Dial-Up Networking Connection:

OPEN the "My Computer" icon.
OPEN the folder "Dial-Up Networking".
CLICK your **RIGHT** mouse button on the "InfiNet" icon that you created.
CLICK on the menu item "Properties".
CLICK on the button "Server Type...".
In the window "Server Types", under "Advanced Options" only "Enable software compression" is checked, and under "Allowed Network Protocols" only "TCP/IP" is checked. Uncheck the other options, if checked.
CLICK on the button "TCP/IP settings...".
SELECT the item "Server assigned IP address".
SELECT the item "Specify name server addresses.
In the field next to "Primary DNS", clear out the zeros, and enter: 206.103.240.1
(you do not need to type the dots as they are already provided)
In the field next to "Secondary DNS", clear out the zeros, and enter: 206.103.240.2
(you do not need to type the dots as they are already provided)
The items, "Use IPX header compression" and "Use default Gateway on Network" should be checked.
CLICK the button "OK"
CLICK the button "OK"
CLICK the button "OK"

9. Making a shortcut to the "InfiNet" icon:

If you wish to make a shortcut to the "InfiNet" icon, drag it from the "Dial-Up Networking" folder to the Windows 95 backdrop (where "My Computer" is located).

10. If you made a shortcut to "InfiNet" OPEN the icon "InfiNet":

If you didn't make a shortcut to "InfiNet", OPEN the "My Computer" icon, OPEN the folder "Dial-Up Networking", and OPEN the icon "InfiNet".
In the field next to "User name" TYPE your IP/PPP/SLIP LOGIN
(found on your INFINITE SYSTEMS SLIP/PPP CONFIGURATION sheet)
making sure that all characters are *lower case*.
In the field next to "Password" TYPE your IP/PPP/SLIP PASSWORD
(found on your INFINITE SYSTEMS SLIP/PPP CONFIGURATION sheet)
making sure that all characters are *lower case*.

11. If you have call-waiting, or need to dial additional numbers to reach an outside line:

CLICK the button "Dial Properties".
SELECT the options that apply to your phone system.

Call waiting is normally disabled with either "*70" or "#70". You may need to contact your phone company to determine the proper settings for your area. Make sure to place a comma after the call waiting disable sequence to allow for a pause while dialing.

When fininshed, CLICK the button "OK"

CLICK the button "Connect" to connect to InfiNet

Once you are connected, you will want to MINIMIZE the CONNECTION box, and proceed to run Netscape, Eudora, or what ever application you want. When done, close you applications and return to the CONNECTION box to DISCONNECT.

Windows 95 Configuration with the Internet Setup Wizard

If you have Microsoft Plus! installed on your Windows95 machine, you'll have an Internet Setup Wizard you can run to configure the dialer for internet access.

Hit your Start button and go into Programs, Accessories, Internet Tools. There you should see the Setup Wizard. Some questions may not always appear but this rundown should answer those that do...

If you are asked how to connect, you'll want to respond "using your own phone line".

You'll be asked if you want to use MSN, or if you have an account with another provider. If you are signed up with InfiNet, you have an account with another provider.

It asks the name of the provider, a good response is: InfiNet

It asks for the phone number so type in the local access number for your area. If asked if you want a terminal window, choose no.

Next come prompts for the username and password. Be sure to use your IP (PPP or SLIP) login and password that we assign you here. Letters are lower case.

Next you'll be asked how you obtain you IP address. Choose "Automatically from the Server".

Next are prompts for the Domain Name Server (DNS) IP address(es). You'll want to put in: 206.103.240.1 and 206.103.240.2

If you decided to use Microsoft Exchange for email, you'll be asked if you want to use internet mail, and you do. The wizard asks you for your email address (in the form of @infinet.com)

Next you are asked for the internet mail server, ours is: mail.infinet.com

Finally, tell the script to use the internet mail settings when starting Exchange and your are set. Most of the time you'll be told to restart your computer for these changes to take effect.

If all went well, you should now be able to access by starting the Internet Explorer program!
